Fuller directions please

I'm happy with my downloaded patterns. I'm halfway through my sweater. I had a little trouble understanding a couple of directions and had to work them out - I'm a beginner knitter. Wish they'd give more measurements for the sizes. Overall though, I'm thrilled to be able to get started right away as I live rurally.
