Here is the latest design of Shuyi Wu, the Concavity Socks ! This beautiful pattern is a variation on the mitered squares concept.

Half-completed squares on the front and back of the sock form concave hexagons (hence the name), while the missing tips move to the sides to fill in the gaps. The heel and toe are surprisingly intuitive, and the stretchy garter stitch provides a good fit.

I designed this specifically to showcase the lovely Bis-Sock self-striping yarn. Choose a colourway with high contrast for a more dramatic look. - Shuyi Wu

We offer this model as a kit only. If you want to buy the pattern alone, you'll find it on Lanja Khon-engheim Ravelry HERE.

THIS KNITTING KIT INCLUDES

  • The Concavity Socks knitting pattern (sent as a digital pdf format) - The pattern is included when you purchase a kit.
  • BISCOTTE YARNS - BIS-SOCK [85% merino wool sw, 15% nylon; 400 m per 100 g] - 1 SKEIN (in self-striping colorway) - shown in Eclipse

IN ADDITION TO THIS KIT, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS

SIZES - XS (S, M, L)

The length of the foot is adjustable.

The table below provides the circumference of the finished sock; the recommended foot circumference, factoring in 15% negative ease for a garter stitch sock; and which size you should knit based on your typical vanilla sock stitch count (with the negative ease difference between stockinette and garter stitch already accounted for).

GAUGE

8 stitches and 16 rows (or 8 ridges) = 2.5 cm (1'') in garter stitch (worked flat).

NOTE

The sock is constructed in layers. Each layer contains two hexagons and two squares, and each module is always in the same position on every layer. Hexagon 1 is on the back of leg / sole, Hexagon 2 is on the instep, Square 1 is on the left, and Square 2 is on the right. The schematic below shows a flattened view of the cuff and first layer of the sock. The pattern frequently requires you to pick up and knit/purl sts along a garter stitch edge. With the exception of picking up along the cuff edge, you will be picking up 1 st per garter ridge. Sometimes, it may look like there is one garter ridge too few; when this happens, just pick up an extra st from the module below, or wherever there appears to be a gap.

ENJOY! ♥

This pattern is sold in a digital pdf format: a link to download your pattern will be provided once the order is completed and you will also get this link by email (make sure to check your spams if you can't find the email in your inbox)
