Watermelon yarn self-striping hand-dyed

Watermelon yarn

Hi, the Watermelon yarn is the second of the Biscotte yarns I have started knitting with. I first cast on a top down sock using double point Kollage square needles, size 2.5mm and I am just starting to turn the heel. It is lovely and soft and apart from having to get used to the slight tendancy to split, it is very nice to work with. I cast on the Watermelon sock, using the same pattern, same type and size of needles I have had to start over three times. I cannot seem to get past 4 to 8 rows without dropping stitches. The yarn seems to be extra slippery and no matter how slowly I knit I am running into the same problem. I have been knitting most of my life and cannot understand what the problem could be. Do you have any ideas? The only thing I can think of is changing to bamboo needles rather than the metal ones but the square needles are better for my athritic hands.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

Many thanks.
Annette Lindsay
