Jane Cardigan | Free Knitting Pattern
The Jane cardigan features a Garter Stitch yoke with a beautiful faux cable hem. Knit with Biscotte Yarn’s Albus, this cardiagn is a beginner friendly, enjoyable knit.
Jane is the sister of Sadie. She is classic, timeless and a little more serious than her free spirited and whimsical sister. Although these sisters have their differences, they are also alike in some ways.
YARN
Biscotte Yarns: Albus 150 m / 164 yds / 50% merino wool and 50% silk. Sample was made using Semi-solid Chocolate. 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9) skeins.
NEEDLES
- Main Fabric: 5mm (US#8)– Circular needles of at least 32” (80cm) and preferred needles for small circumference knitting (or size needed to obtain gauge).
- Ribbing: 4.5mm (US#7)– Circulars of at least 32” (80cm) and preferred needles for small circumference knitting.
NOTIONS
- Stitch holder or scrap yarn
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE
16sts and 28 rows = 10 cm (4”) using larger needles on Stockinette Stitch.
SIZES
1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) / Final bust circumference 36( 39, 41, 42, 44, 45, 49, 51, 53) inches
PATTERN NOTES
The Jane cardigan is knit seamless in a circular yoke from the top down with stitches picked up and knit in 2x2 rib for the collar and front bands at the end. This cardigan is meant to be worn with 2 to 4 inches of positive ease.
