Here is a beautiful design by Samantha Guerin Design for Biscotte Yarns. This dramatic Tricolore shawl is worked sideways from tip to tip in three sections. Starting with just a few stitches, you’ll work a series of two color stripes, eyelet rows and lace as you increase up to the full width of the shawl.

The center features repeats of lace, stripes and slipped stitches resting atop garter stitch. After working across the center section, you’ll begin the gentle descent down to the bind off by working a decreasing version of that first, striped section.

Required Skills Basic lace patterning

Size Wing Span: 78” x Depth: 16.5”

Yarn

Biscotte Yarns - Bis-Sock (85/15 Superwash Merino/Nylon - 435yds per 100g)

Needles

US 5 / 3.75 mm, or size to obtain gauge, 24” circular needle

Notions

Stitch markers, tapestry needle & blocking materials.

Gauge 19 sts and 44 rows = 4” in garter stitch, after blocking (exact gauge is not essential for this project, but knitting at a different gauge may affect the yardage requirements).

HOW TO WASH HAND-DYED YARNS
With the growing popularity of natural fibers and wool, knowing how to wash your woolies is a very hot topic! Since we grew up in the era of synthetic fibers and the washing machine, the return to nature imposes a little reminder of the basic rules.

Tricolore Shawl

I have not yet had the opportunity to knit this pattern, but I have read through it. I like that the increasing and decreasing sections include row by row stitch counts. I appreciate that there are both charts and written instructions. I prefer charts, my husband (also a knitter) prefers written instructions. I only wish the chart key to the symbols was on the same page as the charts, but that is a minor issue. I like that a schematic is included. The pattern appears to be well written. I look forward to knitting the shawl once my current project(s) are finished. Thank you for the pattern.

Can’t wait!

I saw this shawl and loved the color choice. I thought of purchasing the yarn from my lys, but didn’t want to chance them not having it in stock. So i ordered the yarn as well! So excited to start knitting!
