Welcome to the home of the Morgans, a perfectly normal upper-class British family in the late nineteenth century, except perhaps for one small detail—they’re a little obsessive about their cats. This book will take you on a personal tour of their home and garden, introduce you to each resident, and practically pour you a cup of tea. Of course, it also includes knitting patterns along the way. From Aunt Pru’s Persian to the Scullery Cat, there are 20 cat patterns in all for the enjoyment of the proper hand knitter and lover of felines the world over.

Most of the patterns in this book have sections which are worked flat and sections which are worked in the round, so your attention will always be held. A few of them are geared toward the beginner, with shaping achieved by simple increasing and decreasing. Others are more challenging, but even these will be easily accomplished if undertaken with an adventurous spirit.

Adorable

This is such a sweet book. It’s about several cats living during the Victorian times in a Victorian house. Each room has a cat and each cat has a person and a little story. Drawn and photographed pictures accompany each cat and being the book to life.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered. I’m just a 40 yo cat lady who thought it could be fun and it was better than expected. I haven’t made any of the patterns yet but I have skimmed through all of them and they are well written and easy to understand. The story is prefaced by tips, suggestions, definitions, and instructions so that any special stitches can be easily referenced in one location which makes reading the patterns clear and concise.

Even if making stuffed cats isn’t your thing, it’s a cute book just to have.
