To celebrate the addition of the beautiful Granola in her hand-dyed yarn collection, Louise Robert wanted to create a short-sleeved sweater as she like them: a loose-fitting model in which we feel comfortable with slightly fitted sleeves to maintain a feminine touch.
In front of the bust, I played with garter stitch rows to create a simple pattern made of vertical lines in order to lengthen the silhouette but also to accentuate the effect of the pattern's construction, which is knitted from one sleeve to the other. Enjoy! - Louise
In addition to the free knitting pattern, you will need the following materials to knit the Vertiligne pullover:
- Louise Robert Yarn – GRANOLA (70% merino, 30% hemp : 300 m; 328 yds / 100g) shown in GINGERBREAD colour : 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins.
- Circular needles of 3.5 mm; US #4 – cable of 100 cm (to support the number of stitches of the body and to knit the sleeves in the round using the "magic loop" technique) or size needed to obtain gauge***
- Stitch holder or scrap yarn.
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE 26 sts and 38 rows = 10 cm; 4 in on 3.5 mm after washing*** ATTENTION : Read carefully the notes below about the gauge.
*** The GRANOLA yarn used to knit this pattern is made of merino wool (70%) and hemp (30%). This yarn has the property to stretch a lot when wet and to regain its shape when dried in the machine. Therefore, it is very important to check your gauge after being washed and dried in the machine. If, after several washes and tumble dryings, you notice that the garment has shrunk a bit, spray it with a little water and dry it flat, stretching it to the desired size.
FINAL SIZE (SEE ALSO THE SCHEMATICS FOR MORE DETAILS)
Bust – final circumference (designed to be worn with 10 to 15 cm; 4 to 6 in of positive ease) : 87 (95, 104, 112, 121, 129, 138, 146 cm; 34 (37½ , 41, 44, 47½, 51, 54, 58) in.
NOTES : This pattern is knitted sideways, from one sleeve to the other. If needed, please refer to the illustration about knitting directions at the end of the document. The design start with the first sleeve knitted in the round, and then sts are cast-on for the body, which is knitted back and forth. Then, the knitting separates in two, the front and the back are worked separately while the neckline is being made, then the two sections are joined again to finish the body in back and forth rows and the second sleeve in the round.
This pattern is offered as a PDF numeric file: add it to your cart and follow every steps to complete a $0 order. A link to download the pattern will be provided on the final screen and you will also get a copy of this link by email. Enjoy!
ERRATUM 2021-05-03 : according to the designer calculus, the smaller size would use a total of 202 grams. Therefore, we decided to revise the skein needed from 2 to 3 to make sure you won't run out of yarn. Sorry for the inconveniences.
