SIZE - ONE ADULT SIZE
HAT: The circumference is adjustable by adding or subtracting a multiple of 6 stitches; final circumference of 48 cm; 19".
MITTENS: Final circumference of 18 cm; 7". The length of the hand is adjustable by subtracting or adding rounds to the last stripe with B.
GAUGE
19 stitches = 10 cm; 4" knitted in fair isle with 5.5 mm needles.
NOTE
To knit this hat, I used a 5.5 mm circular needle with a 60 cm; 24" cable to knit the fair isle pattern: this cable length is perfectly suited to the model size, allowing me to knit a nice, uniform fair isle. To knit the ribbing and decreases, I used a 5 mm circular needle; 100 cm; 40" cable to work in "magic loop" and accommodate the decreasing circumference of the rounds.
To knit the mittens, I used a 5 mm and 5.5 mm circular needle with a 100 cm (40") cable to work in "magic loop." The mittens are knitted in stripes of 6 rounds, alternating between A and B: it is not necessary to cut the unused color; just carry it along inside the mitten.
