FREE Hat and wrist warmer pattern Flight of the phoenix
The original version of these two samples was published in 2011 as part of a Biscotte Yarns knitting club. The hat and the wrist warmers were knitted with Gobelin wool which is no longer available in our hand-dyed wool collection. We are happy to offer you this new version for free, with our beautiful Griffon wool.
In addition to the pattern, you'll need the following material to knit both projects (hat and wrist warmers) :
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- BISCOTTE YARN – GRIFFON : 1 skein for the hat and 1 skein for the wrist warmers (illustrated in SELF-STRIPING « Dark Side »)
- knitting needles of 5mm and 6mm (Double Point needles or Circular needles)
GAUGE 20 sts x 36 rows = 10 cm

I was confused about the centre, the pattern said to purl, but as far as I could see from photos, most people knitted. I found it a little tricky to start the spiral after the centre, but finally worked it out. Didn't quite have enough yarn to complete 3 spirals before the spiral decrease. I was disappointed the yarn had a knot in one strand and later a slight fault. But overall pleased with the result, and yarn was lovely to knit with.
I’ve always wanted to try 2 colors Brioche. I read the pattern and it seems it’s easy enough for me to understand but the pattern does not say to connect into a round or knit flat ?
