Description

This pattern was written as part of the KID SILK contest that took place on Louise's blog in spring 2022. Sylvie Benoit imagined this pattern of asymmetrical cardigan "...in which it is good to wrap up because it is soft and warm".

"Knowing that Sylvie is a new knitter, I chose to simplify and adapt her pattern to make it accessible to beginners. That's why this cardigan is knitted horizontally, from one opening to the other, with a stitch pattern easy to remember." - Louise

GAUGE

16 sts & 24 rows = 10 cm in stockinette stitch with Merino Worsted and Kid Silk held together.

NOTES :  This cardigan is designed like a blanket with sleeves, this pattern has no shoulder seam. It is worked from side to side starting with the left front and ending with the right front, which is folded over to create a diagonal point edging.  Openings for sleeves and pockets (optional) are created along the way.  The beginning of the rows is worked according to the "i-cord" technique to create a cord effect by slipping the first 3 stitches of each row.

This pattern is offered in a numeric PDF format: add it to your cart and follow every step to complete your order: a link to download your pattern will be provided once the order is completed and you will also get this link by email (make sure to check your spams if you can't find the email in your inbox)

Asymmetrical cardigan

I have started the sweater, and apart from some initial confusion about the slip stitch edgings, it has been going smoothly. I am making it in Malabrigo Rios and Rowan Kid Silk haze, and the fabric it makes is lovely to touch and to work with.
