Biscotte Paintbox shawl pattern
In addition to the pattern, you'll need the following material to knit this project :
- 1 kit of Biscotte paintbox hand-dyed yarn
- Circular needles of 3.5 mm – 100 cm or +
- stitch marker
Pattern sold in PDF format : a link will be sent by email after you place your 0$ order. Thank you :-)
Terms and conditions
Because of its artisanal nature, each skein of hand-dyed yarn may not be completely identical to each other, even if they come from the same dye lot.
To ensure a nice color transition when starting a new skein, especially with semi-solid and variegated colors, we suggest you alternate the rows of the ending skein with the new one.
The effect of self-striping colorways will be maximized in small circumference knitwear such as socks, mittens, hats and scarves.
The result of the zigzag colorways depends on the garment circumference and the tension of the knitter. If the result is not as expected, change the number of stitches or needles size to work your garment.
Most of the time, we take pictures of the yarn in daylight to show the colors closest to reality.
However, because of the difference between the pixels of monitors and their adjustments, it is possible that you observe a slight difference between the actual color and the picture displayed.
Superwash (also identified as SW) processing means that the wool has been chemically treated to prevent felting so you can wash your garments in the washing machine. However, to preserve your garment and color as long as possible, we recommend washing in cold water and drying flat.
Although the yarn is pre-washed, it is possible to observe a slight bleeding of dye during the first washes: this is only the excess dye that goes away. In some cases, this bleeding flowing into the washing water may affect the adjacent colors (especially on white). For this reason, we recommend washing your garment for the first time by hand in cold water (and always in cold water for subsequent washings). If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us for assistance.

Biscotte Paintbox shawl pattern
Biscotte Paintbox shawl pattern
I had bits of yarn from other projects. They are working up in my Paintbox better than the ordinal projects. This one is for a gift. The ease lends itself to firm deadlines

Leicht verständliche Anleitung.
I have found the colors of yarn I wanted to use and now to start! Love the idea and pattern and looking forward to getting started.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this. It was real fun to do. Never thought to take pictures of them. Easy and fun pattern. The pivot edging took ages.
My youngest daughter got both of them.
Todavía no he tenido tiempo de tejer el shawl pero parece fácil de tejer. Muchas gracias por el patrón
Thank you for the Paintbox Shawl pattern. I really like the mix of vertical and horizontal rows. Look forward to starting this project.
The design and colours used were different from the usual patterns.
I have placed this pattern in my to do folder- hope to get to it soon
Loved the design and pattern. My corner where you pick up stitches didn't look as good as the sample but that was due to my error. Overall loved it and will make another one.
I have not yet had the time to start knitting this pattern. I am comparing it with other patterns using gradient yarns before I decide which one to knit
Great pattern! Great yarn - I purchased some yarn at the Creative Needlework Festival in TO - lovely yarn - made some snazzy socks - love them!!
Can't wait to make the shawl pattern!
Thank you for the beautiful Biscotti Paintbox shawl pattern.
Beautiful shawl! Can't wait to make it!
Thank you, the pattern is great
Just completed my Paintbox Shawl! Loved working the pattern and love the results!!
Can't wait to try...Thank you for the check off chart also. It makes it easier to stop (we all have to get some sleep and stop to eat...don't we?)Thanks again for sharing!
I love Louise's design, with the curved flow of one colour into another. Alas, due to limited vision, I would need to knit this in a bulky yarn on larger needles (3.5 mm. is too small for me to see well) and cannot buy the kit from Biscotte. I am not sure my skills are up to 'converting' the pattern to meet my needs--for starters, I would need to convert the gauge and size, determine the quantity of yarn of each colour, and so on.
I may try to imitate the general idea, with yarn that I have on hand, as it looks like it is flying!!! I'd love to knit such a shawl!!! I would cherish it forever!!
Wish me luck!!
Great pattern, well written. Plan on knitting another one soon!
I like the short row pattern, and here there are a lot of them.
This pattern is gorgeous. I am partway through the knit and trying to pick colours to go together. Thank you for the free pattern.
I haven't started a shawl yet but I read the pattern. It's easy to understand and I think it will make an excellent garment.
haven't really started yet. Just trying to get a few projects done but I can't wait.
I love the combination of color and design
It's a perfect match
I absolutely love the colors of this yarn, the pleasure of knitting it, and the beautiful drape my shawl is developing. I will return again...and so will my knitting friends who have admired my shawl-in-progress.
Thanks for the free pattern; love the look, now I'm trying to decide on which paintbox colour way to choose...
Btw, thanks for giving Canadians a price break - much appreciated!
Yo seleccione add to cart pero no se si me llegara espero que si , me encanto muchas gracias por compartirlo. saludos desde México.
Pattern is very easy. Directions are great. The hardest thing is to pick your yarn colors!
I have not started the Shawl Pattern yet but plan to next week.
Enjoying the pattern do far lovely design
Just today began going through my stash looking for yarns to use. Turns out I have some inspiring colors available.
Haven't started yet.
But I will be on Holiday next week and it's on my knitting/wishing list.... :-)
looking forward to knitting it. So beautifull !
thanks for sharing !
This is a well-written pattern that results in a lovely, interesting and colourful shawl.
i love this shawl pattern.
Biscotte Paintbox was a fun pattern to knit. The garter stripes knit up fast and the modular side addition lends visual appeal. The picot edging contrasts beautifully. I modified the pattern to add the picot trim to the entire shawl - a simple addition. Simple, satisfying, a perfect summer knitting project!
Love the design. Made in colors preferred, it could be a favorite of anyone.
I love this shawl because its simple but very pretty. I haven't had enough time to start it yet but I will. :)
Looks good but I need one more yarn and have to finish two more projects!
I love the pattern and so easy to knit. Thank you
This is a very very nice pattern. Do you have the kits in stock yet? I am interested in the colors shown in the pattern. Thanks
Perfect - thank you very much
Des couleurs comme un bonbon de fête foraine, il a une forme originalecomme un cerf-volant ; il est très agréable à tricoter et si beau.
I liked it enough to buy it, and will do it soon, but am recovering from madly finishing my niece's wedding blanket right now. I love the idea of playing with colors!
I started it but I haven't had much time to work on it lately. What I have done on it I just LOVE! Can't wait to get back to it. Thank you for the wonerful pattern.
Waiting to get the gradient yarn kit. Hope they re-stock soon. Pattern looks easy to knit and I'm sure I'll be happy with the finished project.
I love the pattern, but have not started to knit it yet. I did not purchase the kit because I have yarn of my own. I have a question as to which Colors you used for A thru E. It is difficult for me to understand where and what color to start with. I am using 2 shades of grey, a coral and a blue, not sure what to get for the E color. I would appreciate some feed back if possible. Also the amounts of each color. Thanks
What a versatile pattern! Can be worn so many ways and it works up differently in depending on the yarn combinations. Also, can be used for "stash busting" (always a plus!). As a knit pattern, it has enough interest so as to not get boring - yet easy enough to knit while watching TV or chatting.
I have not started yet as we just got back from holiday
Pleased with pattern and looking forward to knitting this.
Easy, quick knit.
Biscotte shawl is sweet to make as its name means in french language! a sweet homemade cookies.

I absolutely love the creative opportunities of this pattern. It is unique and so perfect for your great yarn. I didn't realize the fabulous yarn you carried until I saw this pattern, and now I can't wait to buy your yarn. Thank you so much.
A lovely pattern with the usual accuracy and commitment to patterns that Biscotte always ensures. The yarn of course is of great value. I hope to wear this one and shine.
The design is so nice. I love to mix the colours.
I should have ordered TWO kits before they were sold out! This is looking so pretty and really enjoyable to knit. It is mostly a simple knit, yet enough of a change to keep it really interesting.
I love this shawl. It is easy to knit. I can't wait to knit one in your yarns however. This will make a great gift for my Mother.
knits up into a graceful and elegant shawl. A joy to knit
