This hand-dyed artisanal yarn is no ordinary knitting yarn: the designer behind the knitting patterns Louise Robert Design meticulously created this beautiful collection.

It's by studying the color pallets that represent her life and career over the years that designer Louise Robert was able to imagine all of the variety available in these hand-dyed artisanal yarns.

MADDER or "madder of the dyer" is a perennial plant native to Asia of the Rubiaceae family, which was widely cultivated for the red dye extracted from its roots. - Louise

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT NATURAL DYES
Due to their artisanal nature, hand-dyed wool skeins can be different from each other even if they both come from the same dye bath. By adding to the equation the use of vegetable dyes, you must know that there can be a great variation of the colors between the different lots. Since plant dyes are highly dependent on mother nature, variations can come from the plants themselves, the season, where the plant was grown and harvested and how tannins are stored. That said, natural colors are living colors that, once knit, magically develop and blend well together.

So beautiful!

This yarn is so nice! Soft yet with a firm hand - perfect for socks and shawls. Not sure what this will become yet, but I had to have it! The color looks more distinctly coral and orange in the picture - IRL, it's a lot softer contrast. Gorgeous colors none the less!

Gorgeous color!

The plummy richness of this yarn color is just fantastic! Super Sock is wonderful to work with. I think this is going to make a gorgeous shawl, maybe in mosaic with a lighter color to set it off!

Merveilles laine. Amazing yarn

The color and texture of the yarn (super sock in Camaïeux) are simply superb. A real pleasure to knit.
I had the privilege of meeting the designer Louise Robert and Patrick. She is a delightful person at Vogue Knitting Live in New York City and Patrick was so helpful. It was a true joy to meet both of them. Charming and beautiful people just like the yarn.
